Another year has passed, and this time the goddess Ixchel has touched the souls of 300 men and women to hear her call, and to canoe to the island of Cozumel to receive her message.
The Sacred Mayan Journey is a ritual in which the knowledge of navigation, the commercial maritime routes and the devotion to Ixchel, Mayan goddess of the moon, fertility and pregnancy, come together.
For her, Mayans crossed the sea from Polé (Xcaret) to the island of Cozumel, where her temple was located (possibly San Gervasio), to bring her offerings and to receive her divine message, which was taken back to the communities.
The chosen ones look forward to the dawn of the great day, asking the goddess Ixchel to guide them and accompany them on their journey. They are the real canoers, the bold, the intrepid, the brave... the true warriors!
